Charles Sutton is Lecturer in the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh. He applies machine learning, probabilistic graphical models, and approximate inference,  to natural language processing, computer systems monitoring, and inference over large-scale data streams, the latter including fast approximate methods for streaming data, particularly relevant to this proposal. He is PI on grants to explore efficient algorithms for learning with probabilistic models for large amounts of data (EPSRC) and to apply ML methods to aid computer systems development (Microsoft).
